Neurologist: Sports Concussion, Traumatic Brain Injury, Fibromyalgia and Headache Specialist
Dr. Frank Conidi is a Boston trained (see below) sports neurologist / headache specialist who currently holds an academic appointment as an assistant professor of neurology at Florida State University College of Medicine. He is a nationally recognized expert and specialist on sports concussion and traumatic brain injury. He is also the team neurologist for the NHL’s Florida Panthers and has served as a consulting neurologist for the NFL, USTA and MLB. He is Vice Chair of the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) Sports Neurology Section and co-author of the AAN’s position statement on concussion in sports and is currently involved in the development of the new AAN Sports concussion guidelines. He is also co-chair of the Florida High School Athletic Association Concussion Committee, serves as a consultant for the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Radiological and Diagnostic Device Division for Sports Concussion and TBI and is a member of the Florida Society of Neurology’s executive board and chair of the legislative committee where he was involved in the passage of the recent sports concussion legislation in Florida. Dr. Conidi is currently developing and participating in clinical trials for sports concussion and he is also the founder and chairman of The Seeing Stars Foundation (www.seeingstarsfoundation.org), a 501(c)3 charity dedicated to funding research and education for sports related concussion and sports related neurological issues.
Dr. Conidi is a graduate of Boston University, Boston University School of Medicine and Southeastern University College of Medicine and completed his internship at Tuft’s University’s St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, his residency at Boston University School of Medicine’s Boston City and University Hospitals. He received additional training in headache through the Harvard affiliated Massachusetts General and Brigham and Women’s Hospitals.
His other interests include non narcotic and Interventional pain Management, Sleep Medicine, Fibromyalgia, Head Trauma and the use of Botullinum Toxin (Botox®) in the treatment of neurological disorders and pain where he is an internationally recognized leader and lecturer on the topic. Dr. Conidi serves on the advisory board for a number of pharmaceutical companies, is a member of multiple neurological societies and actively directs and participates in clinical trials.
